Sleepy, Dreamy - Mums Happy

Sleep time is so important in our house, it affects everything – the children's/ mums moods, the way they interact, if they can do tasks (Happily), whether I have world war 4 in my household....
I work, am completing University and am a Mumma to 4 gorgeous children. One of which is “Beautifully Unique” and the younger one is a copy cat! She is copying the behaviours of the older ones.
For 7 years (my beautifully unique) Grace, had never slept through the night. Every night at around 2am, a little person would climb into my bed. This is partially due to her severe anxiety and that she is a light sleeper (sure many mums can relate).
So I made a plan, after step 1 worked, I thought I need to integrate these oils into my children's lives in a sustainable and enjoyable way. Initially I started with diffusing but now I have had to change the routine depending on the day, child. So here is how I do it and what I use....
Bath Time
I use two options for bath time.
Firstly, I have a bottle of bubble bath made up with a combination of Essential Oils. I have a blend of Vetiver, Lavender and Frankincense - to help keep the girls grounded, calm after a long day at school. I like to add Magnesium Salts or Oats to the water for a soothing affect on their muscles and skin.
Secondly, I have a homemade Infused Body Butter with Roman Chamomile, Lavender and Frankincense. I must admit I have begun to add Copaiba as it is so relaxing for me and the girls. So if the girls want to shower this is an option instead of adding to bath water. This can also replace or support putting Essential Oil on your child's big toe, before bed.
Recipe for Natural Body Butter
Bath time is before dinner, so sometimes they are so relaxed this is what happens.....

Because Mums need some Oily Luxury, I have an old empty Roll on Deodorant Bottle which I filled with Coconut Oil and personal blend. Every night after a shower I roll the oils on my skin. I smell heavenly and after a hard day, feel amazing!
Sleep Diffusing
The trick is to put your diffuser on 30 min prior to the children going to bed. The bedroom will have a comforting and calming smell.
Our diffuser blend is simple –
We add 2 drops of each into the diffuser and diffuse when they sleep.
Vetiver, Lavender and Frankincense.
The girls sleep through the night and wake up refreshed. Some mornings, Gracie now gets up and has a shower, ready for school before I get a chance to direct her. She is well rested and in a mornings are not filled with the arguments they used to be or we aren’t racing out the door.
Yes and sometimes we use this blend at nap time in the lounge and this is what can happen.....

Rollers
Rollers are used every morning before school. I liken oils to taking a painkiller – it seems to work better if you maintain - similarly to maintain your child's mood as opposed to allowing them to become “out of sorts” and then applying.
Our Roller bottles are a combination of Grounding Essential Oils and Focus Essential Oils.

This works extremely well on the teenager, who is moody, grumpy and hormonal most days (which is normal).
Miss G, loves to wear her aromatherapy necklace to school with her blend which she can smell all day and Miss 3 asks every morning to put on her “Peppa Pig” oil – mind you is Peppermint!
Its a morning ritual so I think it helps trigger their little minds that school time is right around the corner and they need to be ready for the moment as I mums I yell “Everyone ready, Meet me at the Car!”.
Since essential oils are not regulated, you need to be careful what oils you are using on your skin and on your body, especially on your children. Some companies can put fillers or additive into what they call an “100% pure essential oil”. Recently I saw Frankincense for sale at the local chemist for $20, I thought bargain – then I read the bottle, it was 2% Frankincense and the rest was filler.
Needless to say I waited for my order to arrive from the company, I trust and use every day. Sadly most of what we find in local shops can be synthetic and filled with nasty fillers. Find a company who has rigorous testing and standards for their oils which has no fillers unless you can read on the bottle.
Hope this helps your family x
